San Carlos, November 2, 2023- The San Carlos Apache Tribe, in collaboration with the San Carlos Apache Gaming Enterprise, has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to supporting the well-being of Eastern Arizona communities through their annual 12D funding initiative. The prestigious Awarding Event, celebrating the contributions of this initiative, took place on November 2nd, at 5:30 PM, at the Apache Gold Casino Convention Center. The evening included a shared meal and a special check presentation ceremony. The 12D Fund was established to fulfill the requirements outlined in Section 12D, as elected by the San Carlos Apache Tribal Gaming Enterprise. By directing funds through local non-tribal municipalities, this program ensures that communities directly benefit from the allocation.
Graham County Search and Rescue was among the fortunate recipients, receiving a generous grant of $10,000. The event was graced by the presence of key representatives, including:
- P.J. Allred, Sheriff
- Paul David, County Supervisor
- Kim Lackner, Project Secretary
- Dan Lacker, Member
- Ronnie Glaspie, Project Manager
- Kathy Glaspie
The funds allocated to Graham County Search and Rescue will be utilized to enhance local infrastructure, addressing a crucial need that arose from previous events, sparking discussions about the necessity of a Search and Rescue training center.
The Pima Police Department was another recipient, being granted a sum of $14,503.33. Present at the Awarding Event were:
- Diane Cauthen, Chief of Pima Police Department
- Sherrill Teether, Vice Mayor of Pima
The Pima Police Department has outlined plans to utilize the funds for the acquisition of new equipment, including armor and radars. These resources will significantly enhance the safety of both law enforcement officers and the community they serve.
Matt Olin, speaking on behalf of the Gaming Enterprise, expressed his appreciation, remarking how “this little effort would help.” Sheriff PJ Allred further emphasized the significance of the contributions, stating that “a little goes a long way, and it’s a great deal of help.”
The San Carlos Apache Tribe and Gaming Enterprise continue to make a positive impact on the Eastern Arizona communities they serve, fostering progress and safety through their generous contributions.
